What is Maxi+Mum?
INCENTIVE #1 - Family
In 2018 Toni and her son, Maxi were impacted directly with the diagnosis of their young cousin with ALL - Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at the age of 12. He is currently undergoing his last 3 months of intense treatment, which began on Christmas day. As families were celebrating the season, his were wishing for the days to pass. This latest treatment was due to a his previous chemo causing a 15 cm blood clot to develop in his brain. As stated by his parents, "the treatment is hell and the side affects are cruel." Even through all of this he remains positive and days are filled with the highs and lows for both him, his parents, brother, sister, and all his family members. |
INCENTIVE #2 - Friends
In 2018 family friends from Toni's hometown, Canowindra in NSW, were impacted directly with the diagnosis of their daughter with ALL - Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at the age of 3 and a half. She is your typical bubbly, blonde curly-haired little girl. Big sister to 18 month old brother, Hudson. The family had to pack up everything and head off to Sydney, nearly four hours drive away. A visit that they thought would take a month, has been 4 months already. Her parents say, '...she has been the bravest of brave. We are so proud of our little girl and the way that she has adapted to hospital life. Watching our little girl go through such intensive treatments has surely been the most difficult time of our lives, but her strength and courage have helped us to stay positive, have faith and remain grateful for her chance to fight for a cure.' As the family prepare for their little girl to have a bone marrow transplant, we can walk these mountains so raise money to help more families ring the bell as they exit their hospital ward. |
It IS these highs and lows that gave Toni and Maxi (Maxi+Mum) the idea to put themselves into situations whereby they are going through the highs and lows...which come in PEAKS to complete this challenge. In doing so, Maxi+Mum are hoping to raise an incredible amount of money that will go directly to the Leukemia Foundation of Australia.
Maxi+Mum's money goal is $100, 000 by the end of July. To achieve this they are planning to self fund a trip. For each metre in altitude that they climb to reach their ultimate Summit of Chimborazo in Ecuador they ask for donations towards continued research and support of families impacted by blood cancers in Australia.
